Diana Laranang

I am currently a second-year student at Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Having a military parent,  I moved around a lot for the first half of my life; from being born in New York, to living in London and Okinawa. It wasn’t until middle school when my family finally settled down in sunny San Diego. I have loved living here so much that I couldn’t see myself going anywhere else, which is why I decided to go to Thomas Jefferson located in the heart of San Diego. Aside from being a Student Ambassador, I am an active member of Phi Alpha Delta, Asian Pacific American Law Student Association and the Student Bar Association. I will also be participating in the Moot Court Honors Society this year. During TJSL’s study abroad program in China I discovered that my main passion lies in Entertainment Law with an interest for Intellectual Property specifically in Copyright and Trademark. I became a part of my school's Intellectual Property Fellowship and strive to be an advocate for artists' works and rights. Thomas Jefferson has given me many opportunities during my time as a 1L. I am excited to start this new year and help more people find their place here. If you have any questions about the application process or would just like to learn more about what it's like to be a Thomas Jefferson law student, please feel free to email me!

I am a third year law student at Thomas Jefferson School of Law. I am a San Diego native and avid beach goer. I attended the University of California, Los Angeles (go Bruins!) where I received my BA in Political Science with a minor in Chicana/o Studies. A few years later, I attended the University of San Diego for my paralegal credentials and ultimately decided I wanted to go to law school. Aside from being a Student Ambassador, I am an active member and the Secretary of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Society. I am also a member of the La Raza student organization, the Public Interest Law Foundation, the Family Law Society and the Business Law Society here on campus. I am a La Raza mentor for incoming law school students and enjoy giving back to my community. Once I graduate I am interested in practicing business and corporate law. If you have any questions about living in San Diego, the law school admissions process, or just want a student’s prospective please do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to sharing my experiences and insight with you.

Summer Young

I am a second-year student at Thomas Jefferson School of Law. I was born and raised in a small town in Minnesota, where I eventually grew sick of the snow and ice, which is when I made my way to the West Coast for college. I moved to Lake Tahoe, in northern California, to study at Sierra Nevada College. I completed my BSBA in Ski Business and Resort Management and upon graduation, I decided that southern California was the only place that I wanted to move to next. Aside from being a Student Ambassador in Admissions, I am very active on campus. I am on Law Review, I hold the position of Director for Academic Success for the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and I am both an active Intellectual Property Fellow and a Sports Law Fellow. I have found a strong interest in the Intellectual Property realm of law, specifically music and the rights that come along with Copyrights within the Entertainment Industry. In my very limited free time, I like to exercise, go to the beach with friends and read health-related books. TJSL truly has become a home for me and I am very thankful for the friends I made during my first year. I am excited to start this new year and to help any prospective or current student during the transition period into being a law student and the life that comes with it. If you have any questions about anything related to life in San Diego and life at TJSL, please feel free to email me!
