Christie Edwards (TJSL '07) is the recipient of the 2010 American Society of International Law's Arthur C. Helton Fellowship for international and human rights work. Christie will use her grant to support her legal work with the Association Solidarité Féminine in Morocco, an NGO that provides literacy and vocational training to single mothers. Current Thomas Jefferson students interested in gaining valuable experience internationally are encouraged to apply for the Arthur Helton Fellowship next year (February deadline). Three of the top ten legal markets in the United States are Los Angeles (No. 4), San Francisco, (No. 7), and San Diego (No. 9). The only cities that rank higher in the number of attorney positions than these three combined cites are New York, Washington, DC, and Chicago.

There are a number of high-profile legal markets in California in addition to these three powerhouse cities. These legal communities include: Beverly Hills, Costa Mesa, Fresno, Glendale, Irvine, Long Beach, Menlo Park, Mountain View, Newport Beach, Oakland, Orange, Palo Alto, Pasadena, Redwood City, Riverside, Sacramento, San Jose, Santa Ana, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, Santa Rosa, Stockton, Sunnyvale, and Walnut Creek.

The key in the job search process is to throw the broadest geographical net possible. So do not limit your search. Think big!

At Thomas Jefferson School of Law Career Services, we make it easy for employers in the legal profession to find the right candidate among our students and graduates.

Thomas Jefferson School of Law’s Career Services team offers a wide range of services to help you succeed in the legal job market.

Everything you need to succeed is here: networking opportunities, internship opportunities, clerkships, job leads, interview coaching, resume and cover letter writing and individualized career planning with our counselors.

Each semester there are career fairs on campus where legal organizations send recruiters to conduct on-campus interviews.

The recruiting organizations include private law firms, government agencies, and public interest community organizations.

Career Services also offers a special program for students who are interested in Public Interest Law. That program includes counseling services, resume and cover letter writing, information on post-graduate fellowships, loan repayment assistance and access to the PSLawNet.
