Student Handbook Acknowledgement Form

TJSL’s Student Handbook is your personal guide to navigating law school from Week One to graduation. The handbook will help you get the most out of your law school experience. It includes information about planning your course selections, paying for law school, law school policies and a lot more important law school survival information.

All students are required to familiarize themselves with the information contained in the Handbook. During Week One, all students will be required to sign an acknowledgment form. This form indicates that you have been notified of your duty to familiarize yourself with the Handbook. The signed form will be placed in your permanent file. Please find a copy of the Student Handbook at http://www.tjsl.edu/student-life/student-handbook.

For additional information regarding the Student Handbook Acknowledgement form, please contact the Office of Admissions.

Employment Rules for Full-Time Law Students Acknowledgement Form

Studying the law requires a student's full attention and commitment. Significant work commitments during law school can undermine learning and academic performance. All full-time students are strongly advised to refrain from working more than twenty hours per week. First-year, full-time students are strongly cautioned to refrain from working during academic terms in order to concentrate on academics.

During Week One, all students (including students currently enrolled in the part time program) will be required to sign an acknowledgment form indicating that they have been notified of this policy. The signed form will be placed in their permanent file.

You are required to have a copy of their official undergraduate transcript in their permanent file at the law school. If you haven't done so already, please request that a copy of your official transcript be sent directly from the college / university which you received your Bachelor’s degree to the Admissions Office. If you attended more than one college / university, then you are only required to send the ONE transcript from the school you hold a bachelor’s degree from. We do not need transcripts from all of the schools you attended. Note, the transcript sent to LSAC will not satisfy this requirement as the chain of custody was broken and as such, that transcript is no longer official. The transcript sent to us must show (1) the degree received and (2) the date the degree was conferred and arrive in a sealed envelope.  Please have the transcript mailed to the Admissions Office.

You may verify receipt of your transcript through your Online Status Checker Account.

During Week One, students who have not submitted their transcript will be required to sign an acknowledgment form indicating that they are required to submit their official transcript. The signed form will be placed in your permanent file until your transcript is received. Once received, the acknowledgment form will be removed from your file. You are welcome to hand-deliver a sealed copy of your official transcript when you arrive for Week One.

For additional information regarding the Official Transcript requirement, please contact the Office of Admission at 619.961.4300.
